Genaro is currently Product Manager at PolyCo Floors, an Alberta-based company that is pioneering the development and manufacturing of PVC-free circular resilient flooring for the North American market. His work focuses on leveraging local virgin and post-consumer materials while prioritizing product design aimed at circularity, ensuring that sustainability is embedded in the product lifecycle. PolyCo is looking to provide consumers with products that look and feel great, while boasting exceptional quality, durability, and sustainability.
With a strong background in product, applications, and business development, Genaro has previously worked in a variety of projects for innovative multinational and SME companies where he collaborated with large global customers on new applications of polymer-based materials. His passion for innovation, collaboration, and advancing the principles of sustainability and the circular economy has been a defining feature of his career. Genaro holds a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry from the University of Alberta. Prior to his doctoral work, he earned his M.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering and B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) in Colombia. His professional journey includes a blend of academic research and industrial innovation, contributing to patents and scientific publications.
Genaro lives in Calgary with his wife Laura and his son Liam.
